Report on Business Magazine

Filed under: Uncategorized — ryan enn hughes @ 11:46 am

In early January I photographed a story for Report on Business Magazine. Writer Dave McGinn’s article talks about what it would take to retire in 10 years time – keep in mind he’s only 32, so it is a funny read. Below are some of the pics from the magazine.

Ms. Drew Barrymore

I’ve been organizing and prepping my photo files for a new site launch early this year. Here’s an image from a portrait session I shot in the fall – Drew Barrymore while she was in Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival. The assignment was originally for The New York Times.

Report On Business Magazine – Early Retirement

Filed under: Uncategorized — ryan enn hughes @ 4:41 pm

This week I photographed three images for Report On Business Magazine. The images illustrated the story of Writer Dave McGinn – on what it would take to retire in 10 years time. The images I photographed played on this concept of early retirement. The three set ups were: napping in a comfortable livingroom, at a bingo hall, and aqua aerobics. Below is an image from the aqua aerobics set up. I was able to keep a pocket wizard on my camera with the water casing used, and triggered two lights on the side of the pool. The story is due to print for Report On Business’ February issue.

RGB MOVE – Title Sequence

Filed under: Uncategorized — ryan enn hughes @ 11:45 am

I spent last night in studio with Photographers Arash Moallemi and James Kachan creating the title sequence for my motion arts project RGB MOVE. I began image making as a Painter years back – so very interesting to incorporate some of these ideas and methods back into what I am doing these days.

TUFF Award

Filed under: Uncategorized — ryan enn hughes @ 4:27 pm

Last night I was awarded Best In Category (Urban Images) for my project “Aeroplanes” at the 3rd annual Toronto Urban Film Festival. TUFF is a really great outlet for short experimental work – I’m definitely looking forward to submitting again next year. The frame grab below is from the original 16mm black and white version of the project shot in 2003. I spliced frames on top of each – footage from The Toronto Zoo and footage from Pearson Airport.
